Ann Maki

Digital Guru & Graphics Girl

Hey! I'm Ann Maki.

I'm lucky enough to be a Glory player as well as part of the team behind the team, and I love both of my roles!

Soccer has always played a huge part in my life. I started playing when I was really young and played all through high school at De Pere and college at St. Norbert College (and now again for the Glory). My dad was my coach for most of my club life and my mom was one of my biggest supporters - they both still are my biggest supporters! So soccer was not only fun for me but also a wonderful way to connect and share unforgettable experiences with both of my parents.

After I graduated from college and found myself out of the competitive soccer world I kept playing for fun in adult and coed indoor and outdoor leagues.

My passion for the sport also led me to a coaching role. My first coaching job was for the club I played for, De Pere Select. For years I coached my own teams, as well as with a friend and assisted my dad. I have also coached at the girls varsity high school level for a total of five years. In 2008 I was an assistant coach at Ashwaubenon and from 2015 to 2019 I held the assistant coach position at West De Pere.

In 2015 De Pere Select was a co-host (with Appleton) of the then Region II Championship Series. My dad was the site manager for De Pere and brought me on to help with the website/media side of things as well as various onsite needs. I LOVED it and I knew that I had discovered a new way to stay involved in the game. In 2017, I was lucky enough to be selected to join the Midwest Regional Championships Committee and be part of the event from the Regional level. Since then I've continued to serve on that committee and have gotten to travel to some of the best soccer parks in the nation helping to put on a great event with some awesome people!

I am also one of the founders of the Captains Cup: A Cause for Haws which is a charity event that we started in honor of my friend, teammate and captain - Ashley Haws - who passed away in an accident in 2014. All proceeds from the adult soccer tournament and kick off event go to funding a scholarship in Ashley's name at St. Norbert College - her alma mater. To date we have raised almost $50,000. Our scholarship is now fully endowed so it will live forever and continue to provide scholarships to deserving students for years to come.

Outside of the soccer player world I'm a Marketer and Website Designer for WOW Marketing. I also do the graphics for the Green Bay Glory and take care of the website. I love being part of the team behind the team because I can combine my passion for the game with my administrative and creative side.

I recently got engaged to my then boyfriend, now fiance (obviously!), Nick Bona. Nick is a long time coach and shares my passion for soccer. We even play together in a coed league at the Sports Emporium, which is how we met! We have two dogs and a cat that provide a ton of laughs and headaches...but we wouldn't trade them for anything! 🙂
