LAST TIME OUT
Green Bay won their first game of the season 1-0 over the Chicago Dutch Lions on May 29. Skylar Prentice scored her first goal of the season in the 75th minute to put Green Bay ahead. Despite multiple Chicago chances and five minutes of extra time added on, the Glory held firm for the 1-0 victory. The win followed a tie at Minnesota on May 26 when Laura Linares scored in the 90th minute.
HOME SWEET HOME
Friday night’s home game marks the first since July 18, 2021. Green Bay went 1-4-0 at Capital Credit Union Park last season.
ABOUT CHICAGO CITY
Chicago is 1-0-0 through their first match of 2022. They are tied for third with Kaw Valley FC in the Heartland Division, tallying three points. Green Bay has four points, tied with Minnesota Aurora FC at the top of the division. Like the Glory, both of Chicago’s goals have been scored in the second half. Amanda Cassidy has found the net both times for Chicago City.
MINUTES FOR MERICLE
Returning player Alyssa Mericle recorded 67 minutes in the game against Chicago Dutch Lions on May 29. It was the third-most out of all Glory players who saw action in the contest. Mericle, formerly known as Alyssa Barnes, played college soccer as a defenseman at the nearby University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. In her time with the Phoenix, she appeared in 42 games while notching starts in 40. Mericle tallied seven points, five assists, 37 shots, and 14 shots on goal while scoring one goal.
LOOK AROUND THE LEAGUE
Three other games will be in action Friday night. Midwest United FC visits Indy Eleven at 6 p.m. CST, while Greenville Liberty SC hosts’ Asheville City SC at 6 p.m. CST, and Tennessee SC plays host to South Carolina United FC at 6:30 p.m. CST.
