WHEATON, Ill. – Another road game, another second-half goal, another close game. That’s been the recipe for the Green Bay Glory’s success so far, as they improved to 1-0-1 with a 1-0 win over the Chicago Dutch Lions Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
There weren’t many chances offensively for each team well into the first half. The Dutch Lions tried to get something going late in the half, putting together a free-kick and a corner kick before Alyssa Stumbaugh made a tremendous save in a one-on-one situation. Going into intermission, the score stood 0-0.
Coming out of the locker room, both teams saw great chances. Chicago took a shot three minutes in, but the Glory responded with a few shots of their own, including one from Shea-Lynn Gerred, who assisted on the game-tying goal at Minnesota on Thursday. It wasn’t until the 75th minute when Skylar Prentice scored her first goal of 2022, putting the Glory up 1-0. Despite five minutes of extra time, one goal was all Green Bay needed in the 1-0 victory.

Coach and I are super proud of the ladies to get this win on the road. The team really turned up the pressure on the Lions in the second half to create more opportunities. It was a nice to see Skylar Prentice push up to get us in a good position for the goal. Starting on the road is not easy and these ladies have really shown their strength early with a win and tie to kick us off. – Head Coach Linda Moynihan Vance
